Today, there are 59 National Parks across the United States with more than 275 million visitors every year. The last National Park created was Pinnacles National Park in 2013. The National Park Service was founded in 1916 to care for and protect our nation's wildlife and beautiful natural wonders. The mission of the Park Service is to keep the values of the National Parks in place and to educate visitors about these special places.
